Election called

So John Howard has announced an election for October 9. Which destroys my prediction that JH was going to ruin my 40th birthday by calling the election for that date. And winning.

But can we believe him?

I'm still waiting for the Governor General (you know, our head of state) to come forward and say the election was actually called six weeks ago, but because no-one voted we have Howard back for a fourth term.
