Brett and I received an e-mail last night from Short & Sweet notifying us that "Crossed Lines" is on the short list.

"Crossed Lines" was the play we submitted last year, which made last year's short list.

So it's now possible that every play we've submitted to Short & Sweet will be performed.

Wow!

Geek Stuff

With the advent of broadband I've been trying out BitTorrent and I've been able to locate a few episodes of "Justice League Unlimited" (including the episode that [livejournal.com profile] mistersleepless wrote.)

When I've tried to play them in Windows (using Media Player) the sound and video got out of sync and refused to get back together. I've known couples like that.

So last weekend I discussed the problem with my friend (and advanced tech-head) Michael who pointed out that the JLU episodes were probably encoded in MPEG4, rather than MPEG2, and were therefore unplayable in the Windows environment, as there wasn't a free codec in Windows for MPEG4 (still with me?)

There is, however, a codec in Linux.

So I downloaded Knoppix and burnt it to CD(which went very smoothly), booted from the CD and loaded the JLU files into Xine.

And, whadda ya know, it worked.

So that was my big geek moment for this week (and when I snap my fingers, you will awake!)
