Question -

Not that I need to add a new show to my already crowded schedule of writing postponers such as Veronica Mars, Six Feet Under, West Wing, Deadwood and The Sopranos but-

Is the new Battlestar Galactica worth watching?

I've been told it is, but the pilot was so appalling that I haven't bothered. If you're curious, I'd recommend doing that, which will put you off and you won't have to worry about a new writing postponer. :)

I have to disagree with the Captain there. I love the new series and thought the pilot was fine. I''ve got series one on DVD; haven't seen series 2 yet, but will probably get that on DVD some time, since Channel 10 seems to have now forgotten the existence of the show.

Just say no!

Hiho,

For a season and a half, it was "ok, but not fantastic", with the occasional "wow, well done" episode. Suddenly, though, half way through season two it is on a definite upswing of quality. The last few episodes aired in Canada have been downright gripping.

Make of that what you will. :)

Cu,
Andrew

What if it was a choice between Farscape or Battlestar Galactica?

There's got to be better choices than that.

Farscape would win in my arena. I tried to watch BG but I loved the originals and with the sexchange of a character and a few other modifications, I just don't think I can enjoy it.

Farscape? I loved it and although they attempted to finalize it, they didn't.

AND, to put Ben Browder on Stargate and then add Claudia? C'mon. Still, after a few shows, Ben has proven his skills and has some of the nice acidity that was "Jack". But when Claudia is on I still get throwbacks to Farscape.

Me, I loved all of the new Battlestar Galactica - but then, I loathed the old series. I can't stand 'camp' outside of burlesque shows.

Choice between BSG and Farscape? Bloody hell, what a choice to have to make! I guess it comes down to taste: if you like your SF gritty and paranoid, BSG. If you like it better slightly cracked and off the wall, then Farscape.

Hmm. Camp. When I was originally watching these back in the 70s, they didn't seem quite so "campy" as they appear today.

Perhaps I was a tad hasty to say I don't like the new series. I mean, I watched the finale and was quite enamored with it and wondered if I could go back and watch the series. I just cringed when it first came out a few years aback and certain characters and things had changed from the original. I just never tried to watch it since due to another show on another channel my wife likes to watch. She endures my SF/F habit but I do have to give in from time to time. [g]

Even Farscape changed (warped?) from its beginnings, as did Stargate.

Like you said, it all comes down to taste. I'm willing to try new things so I'll give BSG another try.

Haven't we got enough to watch?
