For those who care:

Turnbull is still leader of the Opposition - 48-35.

I vaguely respect the fact that he stepped up to shout down Wilson Tuckey and Nick Minchin, even if the ETS has turned into a policy farce and it's mostly about politics, not principle.

I saw a hint in the paper today that further OzCar delving has revealed that Grech suggested to Turnbull that he should amend the ETS only to white-ant it after the fact.

Yes, there's been more to come out about Grech, hasn't there? I find the whole ETS negotiations depressing - it seems pretty clear that Rudd is only pressing ahead with them to destroy the Liberal Party. Possibly he's setting the stage for the Greens to emerge as a more effective opposition party

According to the blogs I read some think the Greens might hold the BOP post the next federal election which would be enormous for progressive politics. That would be far better than being stuck trying to squeeze policy between Fielding and Xenophon, the Scylla and Charybdis of the political landscape, isolated, neurotic and monstrous.

I'm a bit filthy with the Rudd government for its ceaseless compromises on every issue, but I do think they deserve to be commended for getting the Libs over the line.

Re the Grech thing, one assumes the timing of this new information is far from coincidence.
