Gay rights

(filched from [personal profile] stephen_dedman)

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" - Ernest Gaines

We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on LiveJournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

I would hope there are more gay lefts than gay rights, but still...

(...don't understand why different bits are more important to marriage than mutual love and understanding according to our glorious leaders, but maybe that's all that's keeping John and Janette together - her vaginal muscles.)

Because (amongst other things) they want to encourage breeding couples. Our treasurer would look silly encouraging gay families to "have one for Australia."

It's in the capitalist imperative to 'grow', to expand infinately.

Of course, that just shows how we must overcome the capitalist imperative to save our environment, and save our future generations from overpopulation.

Hmmm... I knew a lesbian couple who had a child, so (with the IVF that we're dependent on) same sex couples not being able to breed is a furphy (there's also surrogacy, of course.)

Of course, there's a move to limit the availability of IVF to lesbian couples, so breeding can't be that much of an issue to our dear Leaders.

I once heard an ignorant woman say, after the departure of a gay couple, "I don't know why they are allowed to breed." Y'know, I didn't see any children with them and neither of the men appeared pregnant. In my innocence (yeah, like I have that!) I asked her what she meant. Her reply, "You know, have sex." I always assumed that sex was the ultimate expression of love (or lust) between two consenting adults -- not just for breeding purposes. If that's all it's for, put men in one pen and women in the other, then let the best male breed with the best females and the rest can go to slaughter or mill among themselves... oh, wait, they (all the men) might start having sex with each other. Oh, yeah, the women, too. Can't have that now, can we? [g]
