Tomas R.I.P. 2004 - 2005
We're in mourning. Tomas was found on Friday night under the shed door, dead. He'd been hit by a car and we found him too late to do anything. (According to the vet there was nothing that could be done.) We're both grief-stricken. It was so sudden (I was home after work and Tomas, as usual, had greeted me at the door, before he'd run off to do his cat things).
We hadn't even had him for a year.
He was an absolutely beautiful cat, serene and dignified except when it came to play time with Trixie or us, or lying down (in the most undignified position possible.) He was a delightful companion and one of the friendliest cats we've ever known.
We miss him greatly.

-Christopher Smart "For I will consider my cat Jeffrey"
"the best and most illustrious of his Race, –
the most affectionate of friends, –
faithful of servants,
and best of creatures."
- Matthew Flinders "Tribute to Trim"
(Trim was Matthew Flinder's cat who circumnavigated Australia and the world with him, survived two shipwrecks, and was killed on Mauritis. He was an elegant black and white tom, much like our lost boy).
I miss him. I wish I could have him back.
