That's like Darren McGavin playing Frank Black's dad.

(though were the Nikita writer/producers thinking of him as the Equalizer or as Callan - although the Equalizer could be seen as a sequel to Callan?)

This was just in season 5. From what I remember of the commentaries, they did talk about Callan.
