After catching an episode of Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot - I'm really looking forward to seeing a remake of the original (except this is actually a remake of Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor) which was revised as Giant Robo which was converted into Johnny Sokko - serves me right for not checking wikipedia) -

They're... remaking it?

Jeez. When I arrived in Far North Queensland from the US as a kid, Johnny Sokko was mandatory viewing for the grade three demographic. Lacking a TV, I believe I caught half of one episode at a mate's house. Once.

It didn't do a whole lot for me, even then. What do you know about the remake? Who? Where? And for the love of phuck, WHY?

Didn't get my facts straight so I've amended the entry.

I caught half an episode of Johnny Sokko during a visit to Sydney when I was a mere strip of a lad - that memory has stayed with me until I was able to watch most of an episode on Hulu, and realised it was complete crap.

The anime remake - Giant Robo - is very good - I need to pick it up on DVD.

Sorry for the confusion. The above is a CGI remake of Gigantor. The kid with the watch confused me (but they all came from the same person so I don't feel so bad, having never seen an episode of Gigantor.)

Yeah. All I know about Gigantor is the remake of the theme song they released about twelve years back on a whole album of indie bands doing Saturday morning 'toon themes...
