Not Quite Hollywood

Is  a fantastic documentary on Australian exploitation films of the 70s and 80s. I saw it last Wednesday at Popcorn Taxi.

I was going to rave about it (especially as if I don't get three people along to see it, Roger Ward is going to come over to my house and beat the living Christ out of me.)

But I think the trailer pretty much speaks for itself (NSFW in every way, shape and form - warning contains toxic levels of Quentin Tarantino.)

Go and see it when it comes out. It's the most fun I've had in the cinema in a long time.

and it's being remade.

Oh God, they're not starting to remake Australian movies as well. Most didn't even deserve to be made the first time!

"Long Weekend" (one of my favourites) is being remade with the excreable Jamie Blanks directing. "Patrick" and "Thirst" have been announced.

I guess it's up to Mike Myers for the inevitable "Alvin Purple" remake.

I will never understand the reason for remakes in an an age when the originals are available on DVD. It would be like publishing a re-write of War and Peace, or Wuthering Heights.
