He does sound like a good and able writer and those eps he wrote are certainly splendid but 'Davies running it into the ground'?!!! I thought he revivified the franchise. I can't actually think of a dull patch and we haven't seen more than an ep with Catherine Tate in Aus have we? (I agree she is a shrill and annoying personage and quite out of place in this series)

Russell T. Davies made the new show a huge popular success. No wonder Doctor Who fans hate him! Doctor Who isn't for the general public. It's for a handful of sad little people in anoraks who think they should bring back Hartnell as the Doctor. And go back to making the show in black-and-white, the way it used to be in the good old days. Anything new should only be produced by them, like the radio adventures that brought Doctor Who to an audience of dozens of people.

All change is bad, after all.

Actually I want them to redo the Hartnell series as a zoetrope so you have to queue up to watch it.

And then release it on grainy VHS tapes. They way Doctor Who should be. But only available to real Doctor Who fans. This RTD guy put Doctor Who on television!/b>. Where just anybody could watch! Even people without anoraks. What was he thinking?

Actually Catherine Tate just gets better and better. She and Tennant have a great partnership going on the show. Season 4 is sensational.

Of course I have now committed the gravest sin a Doctor Who fan can commit - saying something positive about Doctor Who! ;-)

I loved Christopher Eccleston as Dr Who, thought RTD did a great job of reviving the franchise, got a bit sick of the Dr and his magic stick solving everything at the last minute, got even more tired of the "relevance" and "satire", hated the conclusion of Season 3, hated the Titanic Xmas special even more, and when I found C. Tate was coming back as an assistant, I thought I'd give it a rest for a while.

On the whole it's probably more consistent than most Dr Who runs and I can't fault RTD for bringing it back (and keeping it relatively family friendly and accessible for the most part) but I've found the third season extremely grating with fewer and fewer bright spots.

I'll certainly give season 4 a try when it starts locally, but I no longer feel like jumping the queue (so to speak.)

Give Catherine Tate a chance. She really grows on you. I hated her at first, now I think she's terrific. I had the same experience with Tennant - hated him at first, now I think he's a much better doctor than Eccleston could ever have been.
