Assault by webpost
Yes, it is possible to physically assault a small sector of the online community (i.e. epileptics) with forum posts.
Honestly - what is it with some people? This is just disgusting.

The "this is why we can't have nice things" principle is going to bite all of us, because we can never get rid of all idiots. In part because becoming an idiot is a phase in the human maturity process, one that some progress beyond, and others don't.

I don't care if you didn't think this up yourself, I'm giving you all the credit for it because it's brilliant.
I think we need a much harsher term than "idiots" though - these people want to harm even kill complete strangers for what appears to be no real reason at all - so they're even more dangerous than terrorists. I can imagine someone setting off a biobomb in a crowded city, just for the lulz.

The problem with demonizing "idiots" further, is that they're not only a small percentage of the adult population, but a significant part of the personal history of most people.
I know I did one or two things as an idiot teen (involving fire or vehicle) that could have had horrific consequences that I didn't even think of.
Much as everyone must buy locks if there's even one murderer in the town, society has to limit everyone's empowerment if one person's misuse can have dire enough consequences. Although why that hasn't happened to USA gun culture is an oddity.
