Family Trouble
I found out last Friday that my step-father (in all but ceremony really) had a stroke. To make matters worse, my mother was in New Zealand attending a violin workshop, so John was all alone.
On the kitchen floor, unable to get up, for eight hours until he was found by his friend Tom, who lives down the road and was checking in with John just in case exactly this kind of thing happened.
I can't help feeling how awful it must have been for him to be lying there, unable to get up (he'd broken his femur), brain fused by lightning.
Fortunately he's in hospital and stable. I won't know much more until we hear from Mum later tonight.
I've had to cancel the next two weekends as we'll be down in Canberra. I may stay for a week after Anzac Day (got to stay at work until my boss gets back from her archery championship as we cover for each other.)
I'm not in the mood to do Nigel, but I'll have to do some catch up episodes just in case.
And just to make things more interesting my BPV came back in a rather spectacular fashion on Friday night after I heard the news.
Oh well, we've checked on
murasaki_1966 parents this weekend.
sigh, our parents are getting much, much older.
So if we're not exactly available for the next month or so, this is why. We are still going ahead with Anzac Day, though.

I hope that your stepfather's recovery from the stroke is good and that life improves for your whole family very, very quickly.
If you end up in Canberra on ANZAC Day there's Viking chess, Regency Gothic food and some slight silliness at my place. I've decided (but not made any sort of public announcement) that I'll be at home to friends for my birthday and they should do a BYO everything so I don't have to worry about numbers. Conflux friends are bringing the stuff of dinner (except for all the dishes they don't bring, which I'll cook myself) because we have food that needs checking on a table together. Apart from that it's appear any time after noon and be prepared to take time out to watch Heroes. If you're in Canberra, please come.

Depending on how things go, I might try and meet up with you when I'm down there for a week. I know I'll have to get out of the house at some point.

If there's anyone you want to see while you're here and you're uncomfortable about using your folks' place, use mine. I get to meet new people and use up my coffee, so it works for both of us.
