Dis/Utopianism in 60s, 70s science fiction

As a fan of Phillip K Dick and Ursula Le Guin (and to a lesser extent Sam Delany, only cause I haven't read enough) I found this article (more a book review) fascinating. Frederic Jameson believes that certain types of science fiction are important culturally as they allow imagining of non-capitalist utopias. Why don't more leftist critics (or, indeed, professors of literature) believe the same?
