Okay - one posting on Katrina

My friend's page is awash (sorry) with links to Hurricane Katrina and it's aftermath, so I don't think I have anything to add, except:

Now that the US has a lot of homeless, unemployed people on its hands would this be the time to re-introduce the draft?

(Or rather, will the Bush administration starting offering rebuilding grants tied to some kind of national service?)

Just pondering aloud.

Anne Rice doesn't live in New Orleans any more. However, she did write this - http://www.wwltv.com/topstories/stories/wwl090305annerice.21ad697f.html

That's a damn fine article. What is it with Bush that he's so slow to act? I'm wondering if this will cause anyone to revisit that other cataclysmic series of events where it seemed every major building was going to get clobbered before anyone did anything.

I'm wondering if the US is going to move past 9/11, it's going to be old news so ultimately left up to the historians to pick apart. You know, like SIEV X and Children Overboard here.

Personally, I think Bush's lack of response to 9/11 was because he just wanted to find out how "My Pet Goat" came out.
