Christians catch on to "The Golden Compass"

(for [livejournal.com profile] murasaki_1966 and whoever else)

and so it begins

(note: - didn't seem to be a major issue when it was just a trilogy of books now did it?)

The anti-religious bent of the series was condemmed when the books were released. Films have wider exposure, and are easier to whip up hysteria about them.

Interestingly, there is one major mistake in the second email letter quoted. It claims that Lyra and Will kill God. God does not die. The being that claims to be the Almighty dies: of extreme old age. Lyra and Will are nowhere nearby, your Honour.

Personally, I think you should let the kids read the Chronicles of Narnia and His Dark Materials and let them make up their own minds.

Yeah, I thought the ending was a bit of a cop-out. The books get less interesting as they go on, unfortunately.

So true.

And they don't have any dragon tech...
